Mr. Quazi Shairul Hassan is serving as the Honorable Chairman of Sammilito Islami Bank PLC. With a stellar career spanning more than thirty years, he has been a key driving force behind Bangladesh’s banking and investment landscape. Widely regarded as a visionary financial leader, Mr. Hassan continues to elevate institutions through strategic excellence, sustainable reforms, and an unyielding dedication to corporate integrity. Prior to steering Sammilito Islami Bank PLC, Mr. Hassan made significant contributions as a Director on the Board of Bangladesh Development Bank PLC from December 2019 to June 2026. During his tenure at Bangladesh Development Bank PLC, he actively guided policy-making, strategic business expansion, and credit risk management while serving as a key member of both the Board Audit Committee and the Board Risk Management Committee. Mr. Hassan also led the Saudi-Bangladesh Industrial and Agricultural Investment Company Limited (SABINCO) as its Managing Director & CEO from May 2008 to December 2019. At SABINCO, a multinational joint-venture non-banking financial institution between Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia, Mr. Hassan championed high-impact project financing in key growth sectors, including power, cement, fisheries etc. His strategic vision not only fostered long-term industrial growth but also consistently elevated institutional profitability. Mr. Hassan’s expertise also spans pioneering achievements in consumer financing and digital banking transformation. As Senior leader at ONE Bank Limited (2005–2009), he headed the Retail Banking, SME, and Remittance divisions, where he introduced groundbreaking retail models, modernized ATM/POS infrastructure, and accelerated digital remittance inflows. Earlier, as Senior Executive and Head of Consumer Banking at Eastern Bank Limited (2000–2005), he played a defining role in shaping EBL into a top-tier retail brand through innovative consumer loans and card products. His foundation in world-class banking standard operating practices was built during his tenure (1992–2000) at American Express Bank Limited in its Travel Related Services division, where he acquired rigorous training in global credit operations and risk assessment. A firm believer in continuous learning and professional rigor, Mr. Hassan obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Industrial Management (PGDIM) from the Bangladesh Management Development Centre. With a broad domain mastery ranging from project financing and syndicated loans to risk control and digital banking, he continues to steer Sammilito Islami Bank PLC toward proper reformation, sustainable growth, modern innovation, and enduring values.
